Philadelphia is heading into Easter weekend with seasonal reopenings, spring blooms and a busy lineup of events across the region.
The week starts with theater. "The Sound of Music" opens Tuesday at the Academy of Music. It’s also the final week for "The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington" at The Wilma Theater, which runs through Sunday.
Midweek, several historic homes and gardens reopen for the season. Stenton and Chanticleer open Wednesday, followed by Wyck on Thursday. Andalusia is already open on select dates.
By the weekend, more outdoor events start to pick up. The Southeast Asian Market is expected to return to FDR Park around Saturday, bringing back its lineup of food vendors. Cherry blossoms across the region are also expected to reach peak bloom around the same time.
Sunday brings a mix of events tied to Easter weekend. Open Streets: West Walnut will close part of Rittenhouse to cars for the day, while the Easter Promenade returns to South Street for its 93rd year.
