Ryan Arcidiacono carrying ’Nova on a back that almost ended his career

The mental picture of that day doesn’t go away so easily. Ryan Arcidiacono’s nerves were working overtime when he gripped the doctor’s office chair with sweaty palms fully expecting what he was about to be told. His narrow face never dipped, he didn’t close his eyes as he was informed basketball would have to be put on hold for the time being.

Mauro Ranallo: Battling the bipolar stigma

Mauro Ranallo lays supine in a white gown, on white sheets, in a white sterile room, and yet he feels the darkness creeping up on the edges of his face. For new streets commissioner, it all started on the back of a trash truck

He’s in a plush corner office now, overlooking Center City Philadelphia, far from the pungent odor of trash, raging blizzards, unbearable heat, large scurrying rodents and the drug dealers who once stopped him at gunpoint.

Gloria Allred v. Bill Cosby: Clash of the Philly titans

The flame that occasionally rises in her welcoming dark-chocolate eyes is momentarily gone as she runs down an impassioned tale of the tape, leaning over a thick oak dining table. The bluster is gone. There are no cameras or jutting microphones around. Just her and her solemn voice speaking sternly about injustice.
