Payton Gendron, the 18-year-old man charged in Saturday afternoon's deadly shooting in Buffalo, allegedly wrote about his racial motivations for the attack in a manifesto that he shared online before the incident. Ten people were killed at the Buffalo market, all African-American, and three others were wounded. The document Gendron shared contained anti-Semitic references to three New Jersey communities — Lakewood, Toms River and Jersey City — with growing populations of Orthodox Jews.

The Pennsylvania's 2022 Republican primary on Tuesday, May 17, includes nine candidates. Doug Mastriano, Bill McSwain, Lou Barletta and Dave White are the frontrunners. Also appearing on the ballot will be Melissa Hart, Joseph Gale, Charles Gerow and Nche Zama. The winner will run against Josh Shapiro in November's election.

The night sky in South Philadelphia had an otherworldly purple and pink color on Thursday, May 12. It was produced by lights from Lincoln Financial Field, one of several buildings and landmarks raising awareness for the Magical Mila Foundation. Mila Gray Roomberg died when she was 17 months due to a rare case of Neurofibromatosis Type 1 that caused her to have high blood pressure. Her parents' foundation now works with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to improve the frequency of blood pressure screenings among pediatric patients.

Cheltenham Township is working to fix a giant sinkhole that opened up along Chelten Hills Drive between Church Road and Rodgers Road. The township vented on social media about residents ignoring a road closure and pedestrians approaching the sinkhole to look inside.

To make matters worse, Butler spent the moments after his victory commenting about his departure from the Sixers during the 2019 offseason, including a dig at Tobias Harris, one of the players Philly's front office kept instead of Butler.

Amazon Fresh will open its second grocery store in Pennsylvania at the Broomall Commons Shopping Center in Delaware County. Signage was put up at the store this week, but there is no firm timetable for a grand opening. Last year, Amazon Fresh opened its first store in the state in Warrington. Plans are in place for another store in Bensalem, Bucks County, and additional stores are rumored in Philadelphia as the e-commerce giant's grocery business expands.

The former Gen. John F. Reynolds School in North Philadelphia's Sharswood neighborhood has been converted into affordable housing for homeless and low-income veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. The Art Deco-style building was constructed in 1925-26 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The project was led by HELP USA, a Brooklyn-based non-profit that has built five other veteran-focused affordable housing projects in Philadelphia.
