Romano's departure is part of a broader round of cuts at Beasley Media Group, which owns seven radio stations in the Philadelphia region.

Mohammed Adnan Khan, a Temple University student who allegedly was involved in displaying an antisemitic sign at a Barstool Sports nightclub in Center City on Saturday, now denies responsibility for what happened at the business. Khan, who has been suspended by the university, called himself of victim of cancel culture and demanded an apology from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. Temple said Wednesday it has suspended a second, unnamed student in connection with the incident at the bar.

Philadelphia-based drugstore chain Rite Aid will close of its U.S. locations — including 33 stores in Philly — and shut down the headquarters it opened three years ago at the Navy Yard in South Philly. The company filed for its second bankruptcy in less than two years on Monday. Stores will continue filling prescriptions for the next few months as the company sells its leases to other drugstores and retail chains.

A woman who was severely burned in the explosion caused by the crash of a medical jet in Northeast Philadelphia on Jan. 31 has died from her injuries, becoming the eighth fatality connected to the crash. Dominque Goods-Burke, 34, died on April 27, according to the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office. The crash, which killed Goods-Burke's fiancé and all six people who were on board the jet, remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The Wildwood Sightseer Tramcars will have a new look this year with the introduction of a Ford Maverick hybrid truck that will be tested as a future option to pull the trailer carriages. The battery-operated trams that have been used for decades have become too costly to replace, and the nonprofit that owns and operates the attraction is looking at future alternatives. The first of the new trucks will debut this year alongside the fleet of existing tram cars.

Temple University has suspended a student who displayed an antisemitic message on a sign at the Barstool Sansom Street sports bar in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said two employees involved in putting up the hateful message also have been fired.

Correctional officer Michael Jefferson, 42, of Cherry Hill, allegedly sexually assaulted a female inmate at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia in July, federal prosecutors said. Jefferson was arrested Thursday and has been suspended by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which operates the detention center at 7th and Arch streets.

NASCAR has explored the viability of using the University of Pennsylvania's historic Franklin Field as a site for a short track auto racing event in Philadelphia. NASCAR has been expanding with events in big cities in recent years, including the transformation of the LA Coliseum and a series of Chicago street races. NASCAR President Steve O'Donnell said cities like Philadelphia are part of an underserved market of racing fans in the Northeast.
