Independence Blue Cross (IBX) Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Richard Snyder was recently recognized for his industry leadership, earning both national and regional honors.
For the second year in a row, Dr. Snyder was named by Modern Healthcare as one of the nation’s 50 most influential Clinical Executives for 2025. He was also honored with the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Corporate Leadership Award, which recognizes leaders for their significant contributions in the Philadelphia region.
Dr. Snyder is accountable for IBX’s medical management and contracting, government and commercial markets, information technology, operations, marketing, public affairs, and sales. He has been instrumental in leading IBX’s efforts to redefine care delivery and promote equitable, whole-person health. Modern Healthcare recognized his work to enhance behavioral health access and value-based care partnerships, including the Coalition to Eliminate Race-Based Medicine. Beyond IBX, Dr. Snyder has spent years leading efforts with the American Heart Association (AHA), which earned him The Corporate Leadership award by the Philadelphia Business Journal. He chairs the AHA’s Southeastern Pennsylvania board, and under his leadership, the organization launched the CPR Ready Coalition. This initiative brought Mobile CPR kiosks to the Philadelphia region, training thousands of people in Hands-Only CPR.
Dr. Snyder has received numerousother accolades, including the 2025 50 most influential Clinical Executives by Modern Healthcare, the 2023 Heart of Philadelphia award from the American Heart Association, the 2023 Leadership Legacy Award from the American Heart Association Eastern States Region, and the 2021 Leaders in Healthcare honor from the Philadelphia Business Journal.
