Red flag warning, indicating elevated risk of fires, issued for Philly region as weather stays dry

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for much of New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, on Tuesday. Dry plants, low humidity, breezy winds and a chance of dry thunderstorms are increasing the risk of new fires. Haze from Canadian wildfires has also worsened air pollution; DEP announced a code orange alert.

Free outdoor movie season has started at parks and rooftops across Philadelphia. Schuylkill Banks, Sunset Social and Clark Park have announced their 2023 summer schedules. Mt. Airy Moonlight Movies also returns, along with Movies at the Mann. Laurel Hill Cemetery will host select $25 screenings.

Fugitive in Roxborough High School shooting is 'clearly getting help from others,' prosecutors say

Dayron Burney-Thorne, one of five suspects accused of opening fire outside Roxobourgh High School last fall, remains on the lam and may be getting help from other people, prosecutors said Monday. U.S. Marshals are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the teen's arrest. The shooting killed 14-year-old Nicolas Elizalde and injured four other teens.

The Federal Trade Commission said Ring gave its employees 'unrestricted' and 'dangerous' access to customers' videos without their consent in a complaint filed Wednesday. Under the FTC's proposed order, the home security camera company, which is owned by Amazon, must pay $5.8 million in refunds.
