Human Robot Brewing reports theft from safe at West Kensington taproom

Human Robot Brewing said its West Kensington brewery and taproom was robbed overnight Monday. An Instagram post from the Philadelphia brewery showed that safe at the location on North 5th Street had been broken into, but it's unclear how much money was taken. Philadelphia police are investigating.

Julie Bowen, aka Claire Dunphy from the hit comedy "Modern Family," helped care for a New Jersey woman who fainted during a hike to see the Delicate Arch at Arches National Park in Utah. Minnie John, of Oradell, Bergen County, shared her unexpected brush with fame in a Facebook post.

New Jersey man charged in fatal shooting of transgender woman, LGBTQ advocate

Daniel L. Smith, 36, of Ewing, has been charged with murder for allegedly fatally shooting of Shai Vanderpump, 23, in Trenton on July 30. Vanderpump was a transgender woman and LGBTQ advocate in New Jersey. She is the 32nd trans, nonbinary or gender-nonconforming person known to have died by violence in the U.S. this year,

Amazon signs lease for Southwest Philly warehouse, leaving SEPTA to mull other options for trolley project

Amazon has signed a lease for a 140,000 acre warehouse and fulfillment center in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia. The property at 6901 Elmwood Avenue had been targeted by SEPTA as a storage and maintenance location for modernized SEPTA trolley cars, but the online retailer outbid the transit authority. SEPTA continues to look for alternative locations for the trolley facility.

Community College of Philadelphia mandates COVID-19 vaccine for faculty, staff

Faculty, staff and students at the Community College of Philadelphia will be required to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in the coming months, the college announced. CCP is the first public education institution in the Philadelphia region to mandate vaccines.

Penn unveils plans for new student performing arts center

The University of Pennsylvania plans to build a new student performing arts center on the Ivy League school's West Philadelphia campus. The project, still in its preliminary stages, would provide 36,000-square-foot space for a range of undergraduate student groups involved theater, dance, instrumental and vocal music, comedy and spoken word.

Amazon Fresh grocery store opens in Bucks County

Amazon Fresh is now open at the Creekview Center in Warrington, Bucks County. It's the first Amazon Fresh grocery store to open in Pennsylvania, with another store planned in Bensalem and possible third rumored for a development project in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia.

Murder charges filed against men at center of investigation into Bucks County woman's death in Miami

Evoire Collier and Dorian Taylor, both of North Carolina, are charged with murder for the death of 24-year-old Christine Englehardt, a Bucks County woman who was found dead in her Miami hotel room during a spring break trip in March.

South Jersey man allegedly killed wife, then parked next to police station

Shawn Lichtfuss, 49, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of his wife, 38-year-old Stefanie Caraway, at their home in Camden County, prosecutors said. The woman was strangled, according to the medical examiner. Lichtfuss was found in his parked car next to the Vorhees Township Police Department.
