As COVID-19 cases fall, Philly allowing restaurants to increase indoor dining capacities

Philadelphia restaurants can expand their indoor dining capacities from 25% to 50% if they can comply with a new set of standards for indoor ventilation. The initiative, beginning Feb. 12, 2021, comes as COVID-19 cases continue to fall in the city. Health officials also provided new details on efforts to vaccinate teachers, school staffers and child care workers as the broader vaccine rollout continues.

St. Mary by-the-Sea retreat home permanently closes in Cape May Point

The historic St. Mary by-the-Sea retreat house in Cape May Point will close down for good after more than a century in operation at the Jersey Shore. The Philadelphia-based Sisters of Saint Joseph, which owns the property, announced the pending closure and said the land will be returned to nature.

Some college students in Pennsylvania can now obtain Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits under a temporary change in eligibility announced Monday by the Department of Human Services. The expanded benefits are expected to last through the remainder of 2021.

Director M. Night Shyamalan will return to the big screen in July 2021 with "Old," a mystery centering on a haunted beach where visitors age rapidly. The film will be presented by Universal Pictures. Shyamalan's Apple TV series currently is in its second season.

American Airlines adds service from Philly to several cities for summer 2021

American Airlines will soon add service from Philadelphia International Airport to several U.S. cities for the summer season, including daily flights to Daytona Beach and Salt Lake City. Pennsylvania's 'Silence of the Lambs' house is turning into a creepy boutique hotel

The "Silence of the Lambs" home in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, is becoming a hotel and event space available for bookings in 2021. The haunting property was featured as the fictional home of Buffalo Bill in the influential 1991 thriller that serves as the center of the Hannibal Lecter universe. The new owners say the house will be available for overnights, guided tours, weddings, filming and other events.
