As the spotted lanternfly invasion threatens Pennsylvania's economy and disturbs environments, Penn State entomologist Anne Johnson is studying how various natural predators, from birds to other insects, may be encouraged to assist managing populations. Her research is focused on toxin sequestration in spotted lanternflies and how these chemicals may be linked to their favorite meal, the tree of heaven.

Joe Laurinaitis, best known as Road Warrior Animal of the WWE, died at 60 years old. The Philadelphia native is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame and won multiple tag team titles during his career with Legion of Doom partner Mike "Road Warrior Hawk" Hegstrand.

A 28-year-old man was stabbed in the area of Philadelphia's homeless encampment protest on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Sept. 22, 2020. The victim was listed in critical condition. City officials say they continue to seek a peaceful resolution of the encampments, which defied orders to leave on Sept. 9.
