Dolph Lundgren, left, is pictured with Sylvester Stallone around the release of Rocky IV in 1985. Lundgren, shown today in the inset, will discuss his Hollywood career and new memoir at Temple Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 19.

From facing Rocky Balboa as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV to appearing in Universal Soldier and The Expendables, Dolph Lundgren has spent decades playing some of Hollywood’s toughest characters. On Saturday, Sept. 19, he will come to Temple Performing Arts Center to share the stories behind those roles and the challenges he faced away from the camera. An Evening with Dolph Lundgren begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. General admission is $97.75.

Lundgren’s path to Hollywood was anything but typical. Before becoming an action star, he grew up in Sweden, earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering and competed in martial arts. During the live conversation, he will discuss that journey and share behind-the-scenes stories from his career, including his time playing He-Man in Masters of the Universe.

The evening will also take fans inside his new memoir, Fights Worth Fighting: Finding Strength in Struggle. Lundgren will talk about the successes, setbacks, family experiences and health challenges that changed his understanding of strength and shaped the person behind his movie roles.

Philadelphia attendees also will be among the first to receive the memoir. The event takes place three days before the book’s scheduled Sept. 22 release, and every ticket includes a pre-signed copy distributed at the venue.

The experience continues after the conversation with a professional photo opportunity with Lundgren, also included with every ticket.
