Angel Ortiz, 23, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assaulting a 14-year-old girl with a knife at the Willow Grove Park Mall. The girl suffered multiple lacerations, but survived her injuries.

Thomas Paine Plaze in Center City reopens Friday after an $18 million renovation kept the area closed to the public for three years. The redesigned space includes an area for skateboarders built using materials salvaged from the original layouts of LOVE Park, Dilworth Plaza and Paine Plaza. The three plazas were among Philly's most iconic skate spots before they were renovated over the past 15 years.

Center City real estate agent Jonathan Barach, 47, was sentenced to more than three years in prison for a $3.1 million fraud scheme that duped investors into financing non-existent projects. Barach spent the money on sports gambling and a variety of luxury items, prosecutors said.
