A beached whale found at Sunset Beach in Cape May Point on Tuesday was euthanized by wildlife officials, who determined the marine mammal had a low chance of survival in the wild. Whale stranding incidents have been down along the New Jersey coast this year, according to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine.

ChristianaCare plans to open a small hospital with an emergency room and a health center in Aston, Delaware County, in 2026. It will be the first of two micro-hospitals that ChristianaCare plans to open in the county. The plans come amid a legal battle over Crozer Health, which has closed two hospitals in Delco since 2022.

City Council did not hold an expected vote Tuesday that would have moved legislation for the 76ers' proposed arena toward a final decision in the closing weeks of the year. At a hearing Tuesday, council members made clear that they expect the team to address unanswered questions about the project and increase its investment in a community benefits agreement that would support Chinatown businesses and fund many city operations for the arena.

Outdoor apparel brand the North Face will close its store at 1515 Walnut St. at the end of January, ending a 15-year run in Center City. Documents filed with the state show the company's lease at the store is ending. Denver-based parent company VF Corp. — which also owns Vans, Dickies and Timberland — said it has missed revenue forecasts over the past several years due to weak demand and too much inventory.

The three-story Lindenwold Castle in Ambler, once home to 'Asbestos King' Richard Mattison, is up for auction with a starting bid of $1.5 million. The vacant mansion, modeled after the royal Windsor Castle, is surrounded by upscale residences. It recently underwent utility upgrades and has tentative plans approved fora buyer to renovate the castle into 11 apartments and ground-floor commercial space. The castle is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Andrew Gallo, 40, of Bristol Township, allegedly met numerous women on dating sites and gave them spiked drinks before sexually assaulting them at his home, Bucks County prosecutors said. Gallo was initially charged in September based on reports from six women. At a hearing Monday, prosecutors said six more women have since come forward with similar accusations against Gallo.

A woman was found dead at a home in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon with multiple dog bites and cuts, police said. Police are unsure whether the dogs killed the woman or if the marks on her body were made after her death. The incident happened on the 4100 block of Parrish Street in the city's Mantua neighborhood. Authorities did not immediately identify the woman who was killed.

Icona Resorts has proposed luxury hotel at the former Gillian's Wonderland Pier property. The company's CEO Eustace Mita says the proposal fills a need as more vacationers visit Ocean City for shorter stays yet the shore town does not have enough hotel rooms to accomodate them.
