An Aldan Borough police officer fatally shot a man following a 911 call early Thursday morning, authorities say. The Delaware County District Attorney's Office is investigating the shooting.
An Aldan Borough police officer shot and killed a man early Thursday morning while responding to a 911 call, authorities said.
The shooting happened at 3:30 a.m. near South Clifton and Aldan avenues. When the officer arrived, he encountered a man who was armed with a knife, police said.

Authorities did not say what prompted the 911 call and did not share details about the officer's interaction with the man. During the encounter, the officer deployed a Taser before drawing his gun and firing at the man, police said.
The man was taken to Lankenau Hospital, where he later died. The officer was taken to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Neither's name has been released.
Aldan police said the officer has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of an independent investigation by the Delaware County District Attorney's Office. The DA's Office called the shooting an active investigation and declined to comment on the case.
