Each fall, more than 600 communities unite for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the world’s largest event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research programs. More than a fundraiser, Walk is a movement that brings hope and support for those living impacted by dementia while working toward a future without Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer's disease, a progressive and debilitating brain disorder, is a national health concern and a deeply personal journey for countless families. More than 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States. In Pennsylvania, the need is urgent: more than 1 out of every 10 individuals aged 65 and older live with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia.

This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Philadelphia, will be held on Saturday, November 7 at Citizens Bank Park. The event, which is the second largest in the country, aims to raise $2 million for the Alzheimer’s Association a worldwide, voluntary health organization. Their mission is to lead the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementias through global research, driving risk reduction and early detection and maximizing quality care and support.
On Walk Day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. During the ceremony, walkers carry flowers of various colors, each color representing their personal connection to the disease. At the Alzheimer’s Association, we’re fighting for a different future. We are fighting for families facing the disease today, for more time, and for treatments.
Families and supporters take part in the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s, carrying Promise Garden flowers along the route.
“Every person who registers, raises funds or joins us on Walk day helps move us closer to a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia," said Fran Gibbons, senior development director, Alzheimer's Association Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. "We're grateful for the Philadelphia community's continued support and invite everyone to be part of this meaningful day of hope, remembrance and action."
Funds raised by the Walk help fund services and research that directly benefit local families, providing education, support groups and resources for families navigating dementia, including the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900).
Walk funds also support the Association’s work to expand access to Alzheimer’s diagnostics and treatments as well as local, state and federal programs to support dementia research, health care training and public awareness.
