Where are the Eagles deep, and not so deep, after the 2019 NFL Draft: Defense edition

While Howie Roseman has promised that the Philadelphia Eagles aren't done adding to their roster, it is still probably somewhere around 90-to-95 percent set. Here we'll take a look at each of their positions, and determine where they are strong, and where they still need help. We started with the offense on Sunday. Today we'll finish up with the defense.

Eagles sign LB Zach Brown

After something of a disappointing start to his career in Tennessee as a second-round pick in 2012, Brown, who turns 30 in October, began filling up the stat sheet in free agent stops in Buffalo (2016) and Washington (2017-2018), as he was something of a tackle machine. Over the last three seasons, Brown had 372 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. He earned a second-team All-Pro nod in Buffalo in 2016.

A deeper look at the value of the draft picks the Eagles traded away the last two years

As we pointed out in our Eagles draft grades earlier this week, the Eagles made just five picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, a year after they made only five picks in 2018. That ties them with the Titans for the lowest number of picks made over the last two years. That is a concerning trend, considering the fact that the Eagles have a need to find as much young, cheap talent as they can get in preparation of a Carson Wentz contract extension, which is going to be huge rock in the salary cap jar.
