America's 250th birthday has arrived, and Philadelphia is celebrating with one of its biggest weeks of the year. From patriotic traditions and free community events to concerts, sports and historic milestones, there's no shortage of ways to mark Independence Day in the nation's birthplace.
The week begins with a pair of notable events on Wednesday. Wawa Welcome America hosts its annual Free Hoagie Day at the National Constitution Center, while the First Bank of the United States welcomes visitors back inside for the first time in 50 years following an extensive restoration.
The celebrations continue Thursday with Red, White, & Blue To Do, when museums and historic sites across the Historic District offer family-friendly activities ahead of the holiday weekend. On Friday, Valley Forge National Historical Park kicks off its 50th birthday celebration, which continues through Saturday.
Saturday brings many of the week's biggest events. The City of Philadelphia's One Philly Unity Concert for America on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, featuring performances by Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Meek Mill before Philadelphia's signature Fourth of July fireworks display. The city also hosts its final FIFA World Cup 26 match at Philadelphia Stadium, while the FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill continues through the tournament's conclusion.
If you're planning to spend the week exploring the city, Visit Philadelphia's Overnight Package includes free hotel parking and complimentary admission to attractions across the region, including Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition at The Franklin Institute, the Mercer Museum, Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine Museum of Art and Elmwood Park Zoo.
