Jerry Seinfeld will be in Philadelphia Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 to perform back-to-back stand-up comedy sets at The Met Philadelphia at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. A ticket presale begins July 26 before a general sale opens July 28. Tickets start at $85 and will be available through Ticketmaster.

Accused Gilgo Beach killer to be investigated for possible ties to unsolved Atlantic City homicides

Rex Heuermann, the man charged in the Gilgo Beach killings in Long Island, is now being investigated for possible ties to the unsolved 'Eastbound Strangler' case outside Atlantic City, New Jersey from 2006. Four women, all sex workers, were found dead behind a motel in Egg Harbor Township. Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, also will be investigated for links to similar killings in Las Vegas and South Carolina, authorities said.

Remains of missing geocacher from South Jersey found in Louisiana woods, police say

Robert Owens Jr., a 58-year-old Millville, New Jersey man whose family reported him missing earlier this week, was found dead Wednesday in a densely wooded area in central Louisiana, police said. Owens was a recently retired teacher who was traveling on a geocaching trip. The popular hobby involves using GPS devices to locate containers hidden at locations around the world. Investigators found Owens' decomposed remains near a creek.

Consultants chosen for impact studies on 76ers arena plan in Center City

The 76ers are paying for the city's impact studies on the team's proposed Center City arena. Consultants for two of the three studies have been selected by the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corp. But some of the team's critics in Chinatown, who oppose the project, say the city should foot the bill to ensure the studies are independent.

Dahlia flower holds powerful extract that helps treat and prevent diabetes

Researchers in New Zealand have shown that the petals of dahlia flowers contain molecules that reduce brain inflammation, which helps manage high blood sugar. The researchers at the University of Otago developed an extract containing the flavonoid butein and two other molecules that can help people with diabetes and prediabetes manage their blood sugar levels. More than 37 million people in the U.S. live with diabetes and another 96 million Americans have prediabetes, meaning their blood sugar levels are higher than normal and they have to make lifestyle changes to prevent the onset of more serious disease.

Delaware County girl, 12, recovering from shark bite at Florida beach

Magnolia Woodhead, a 12-year-old girl from Springfield, Delaware County, survived a shark bite during a family trip to Florida in the last week of June. Woodhead was swimming at Cocoa Beach when the shark bit her thigh. She needed 50 stitches. The attack is one of several that have been reported at Central Florida beaches in recent weeks.

15-story apartment apartment building proposed behind AMC movie theater near Temple University

Tower Investments CEO Bart Blatstein has proposed a 15-story apartment building with 242 units at 1600 N. Broad St., which is currently a parking lot behind the AMC movie theater near Temple University. The retail strip and the nearby Edge apartment building are owned by Blatstein. The parking lot where the new project is proposed is owned by the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.

Atco Dragway abruptly closes after 63 years in Camden County

The Atco Dragway, a home for auto enthusiasts in the region since 1960, has permanently closed, the owners said Tuesday on Facebook. The future of the quarter-mile track had been in question for several years after plans emerged for its possible sale.
