Philadelphia Union, 97.5 The Fanatic partner on radio broadcast deal

The Philadelphia Union and 97.5 The Fanatic have partnered for the team's radio broadcasts ahead of the start of the 2023 MLS season. The Union, which made its first appearance in the MLS Cup last fall, will start at home on Saturday, Feb. 25 with a match against the Columbus Crew at Subaru Park. Radio broadcasts, led by commentators Dave Leno and Sheanon Williams, will also be available on the station's app and website.

In the past, the brewery has made charity beers for retired 76ers TV broadcaster Marc Zumoff and Eagles radio announcers Mike Quick and Merrill Reese.

Goodbye message Matisse Thybulle left on his Fishtown mural was defaced

Matisse Thybulle's mural on the exterior wall of Garage bar in Fishtown was vandalized overnight Sunday. Thybulle, traded by the 76ers to the Trailblazers at the NBA trade deadline, had recently spray-painted a thank you message on the mural before he left town. A Garage spokesperson said the bar had planned to paint over the mural in the next month and hopes to bring a new mural of another Philly athlete to the wall some time in the future.

Bicyclist fatally struck by police car in West Goshen

A bicyclist was fatally struck by a Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Officer on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023. The crash happened. around 10:16 a.m. along the 900 block of South High Street, near the Route 202 overpass in West Goshen Township. The victim was identified Monday as Michael Thomas Ghione, 75, of West Chester. The crash is being investigated by the West Goshen Police Department and Chester County Detectives.

Singer Bobby Rydell, a 1960s teen idol, to be memorialized with Wildwood statue

Late singer and 1960s icon Bobby Rydell will get a new statue in Wildwood, New Jersey. Rydell, a South Philadelphia native, died last year at age 79. His wife announced the creation of the Bobby Rydell Foundation to honor his life and musical legacy, which includes the 1963 hit "Wildwood Days." The location of the bronze statue will be announced in the months ahead.

Angelo Cataldi said goodbye Friday morning on his last SportsRadio 94WIP show, ending his 33-year run with the Philadelphia station. Cataldi, 71, was a dominant force in Philly sports talk radio, building a boisterous and provocative brand of morning banter about the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers and Flyers. The host thanked his radio team, his callers and many others who helped make the show a sustained success.
