One person was killed on Friday and seven others were hospitalized after a building for chickens collapsed on a farm in Adams County. The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. along the 300 block of Spicer Road in Tyrone Township – about 130 miles west of Philadelphia.

Cavanaugh's Rittenhouse house is moving down the block in Center City to a new, 4,000-square-foot space at 1921 Sansom St. The original location at 1823 Sansom St. opened in 2008. The new sports bar, slated to open in early to mid-September, will feature two levels and a mezzanine for private events. An updated menu also will add pizzas and flatbreads to the food and drink options.

Lore Blumenthal, 35, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $95,000 restitution for lighting two Philadelphia police vehicles on fire during a protest outside City Hall on May 30, 2022. The civil unrest followed the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis. Blumenthal was one of six people charged with similar crimes. She's been detained since her arrest in June 2020 and pleaded guilty in March to federal counts of obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder.

A fire broke out Friday morning at Jim's Steaks on South Street in Philadelphia. Firefighters battled flames in the building for more than four hours before the blaze was brought under control. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire and it's unclear how long Jim's Steaks will remain closed as a result of the damage. There were no injuries reported.

"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" will be a follow-up to the successful debut of the DC Extended Universe series, which debuted to acclaim in 2019. During this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, a trailer for the upcoming film was released and included plenty of CGI from Philadelphia, where the action takes place. One scene brings a giant dragon to Citizens Bank Park at the South Philadelphia sports complex.

El Limon Mexican Taqueria will open a new restaurant at 11 Wesley Avenue in Glenside, Pennsylvania, taking over the former space of Anne's Kitchen Table and Palermo's Cafe. The popular franchise, founded in Conshohocken in 2010, has expanded to more than 20 locations in the region.

Helicopters seen flying low above Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 27, and Thursday, July 28 are part of a military exercise led by the United States Army Task Force 46, which is a specialized homeland security response unit. The exercise is testing interagency planning, search and rescue, communications and emergency systems during simulated chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incident responses.

The remains of a sand tiger shark washed ashore n Longport, New Jersey, at the 12th Avenue beach on Thursday morning. An expert who reviewed photos of the animal believe it may have been caught and released by a fisherman prior its death. Sand tigers are common in the water off of New Jersey and are generally docile sharks that feed on smaller fish and don't pose a threat to humans.

Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Glenn Thompson voted against the Respect for Marriage Act bill that passed the House of Representatives last week. The legislation would codify the legal right to same-sex marriage. Three days after voting against the bill, Thompson and his wife attended their gay son's wedding with full support for the marriage.

WWE's WrestleMania 40 will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in April 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles said Wednesday. The event is part of a weeklong celebration that will also include 'Friday Night Smackdown,' the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and 'Monday Night Raw' taking place at to the Wells Fargo Center. WrestleMania was last held in Philadelphia in 1999.
