The FBI is searching for Riley June Williams, 22, of Harrisburg, who is charged with disorderly conduct and participating in the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. An ex lover provided information to the FBI that Williams may have stolen a laptop computer from the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

A construction worker suffered a medical emergency on the 41st floor of a skyscraper under construction at Broad and Spruce streets, prompting a technical rescue from the Philadelphia Fire Department on Jan. 15, 2021. The worker, a 60-year-old man, was listed in stable condition.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are developing a portable COVID-19 detector that works by sensing chemical signatures of the illness in volatile organic compounds. A $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health will support the development of the device, which is intended to become a screening solution at workplaces, restaurants, retail stores, stadiums and other public locations.
