U.S. Army Cpl. Hayden Harris, 20, was found dead in Sussex County, New Jersey on Dec. 19, 2020. Harris, who was stationed at Fort Drum in upstate New York, went missing on Dec. 17. Fellow soldier Jamaal Mellish is expected to face murder and weapons charges in connection with Harris' death.

The Prime Rib will open a new location at Live! Casino & Hotel in South Philadelphia when the long-awaitd project debuts in 2021 near the Sports Complex. Other restaurants planned for the casino include Lorenzo and Sons Pizza, Sang Kee Noodle Bar & Kitchen and Termini Brothers Bakery, as well as two new restaurants from TV personality Guy Fieri.

The rare "great conjunction" of Jupiter and Saturn on will be streamed online Monday night, Dec. 21, by the Lowell Observatory in Arizona and the Carnegie Science Observatory in California. The event brings the two gas planets into extremely close orbit, an phenomenon that hasn't been visible from Earth since March 4, 1226.

Philadelphia sports blog CrossingBroad has been acquired by digital marketing publisher XLMedia, which owns more than 2,000 websites with a focus on sports betting and personal finance. CrossingBroad was founded in 2009 by Kyle Scott, who said the business model shifted to a scalable opportunity with the legalization of sports betting in Pennsylvania.

The Northern Lights may be visible in Pennsylvania on Thursday, Dec. 10, as a result of a geomagnetic storm that will extend the range of the aurora borealis further south than usual. The aurora forecast from the University of Alaska Fairbanks shows that stargazers may be able spot auroral activity into Pennsylvania on Thursday night.

Pennsylvania implemented a new wave of coronavirus restrictions Thursday afternoon, halting indoor dinning at restaurants and bars, closing gyms and suspending extracurricular activities at schools, among other mitigations steps to stop the a dangerous surge of COVID-19. These new restrictions are in effect Saturday, Dec. 12 until Monday, Jan, 4, 2021.

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from the FTC lawsuit to block Jefferson Health's $599 million deal with the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. Federal regulators argued that the merger would harm patients and insurers by reducing competition, but U.S. District Court Judge Gerald Pappert ruled the government failed to prove that.
