Philadelphia and Pennsylvania both hit record daily COVID-19 case counts on Nov. 6, prompting officials and the health department to review adding new restrictions to prevent further spread of the virus, Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said. Hospitalizations in the city also are beginning to trend upward again.

Philadelphia gave birth to a wave of 2020 election memes as its mail-in ballot vote count helped lift Joe Biden past President Donald Trump in the pivotal battleground state of Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Parking Authority placed a ticket on the Hummer that was stopped in Center City as part of an apparent plot to stop the city's vote count at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The FBI is investigating.

KYW Newsradio to broadcast on FM station for first time in 55-year history

KYW Newsradio will begin broadcasting 24/7 on 103.9 FM on Nov. 23, 2020. The station will continue to air on 1060 AM and Radio.com. Parent company Entercom acquired WPHI-FM from Maryland-based Urban One. The new station will expand KYW Newsradio's reach in the Delaware Valley.

Pennsylvania State Police issue Amber Alert for two girls abducted from New York

Pennsylvania State Police and New York State Police are searching for 37-year-old Amanda Collis, who is believed by police to have abducted eight-year-old Autumn Collis and eight-year-old Evelyn Collis. They are believed to be in a black 1999 Eagle Talon with a Maryland tag number 9884Z5. The car was last seen traveling south on I-81 into Pennsylvania.

A bomb threat was called into Fashion District Philadelphia on Friday, Nov. 6, prompting mall security to evacuate the building and SEPTA to halt all trains to Jefferson Station in Center City. No device was found in the building after K9 units conducted a sweep, but the investigation remains ongoing.

James Sowa, 64, was found dead at his home and chiropractic office in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Nov. 2, 2020. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide after it was determined Sowa died of blunt force trauma to the head.
