Lombard Circle ramp to I-95 to close for 2 years due to highway capping project

The Lombard Circle ramp that connects Columbus Boulevard to Interstate 95 North in Philadelphia will close for 2 years beginning April 7, 2025. The closure is needed so workers can build new cap over I-95 that will support Penn's Landing Park on the Delaware River Waterfront. Motorists will be detoured to the I-95 ramp at Summer Street.

Penn archaeologists help uncover 3,600-year-old tomb of Egyptian pharaoh

Working with their Egyptian colleagues, archaeologists from the Penn Museum have unearthed the tomb of an ancient pharaoh who ruled about 3,600 years ago. The discovery in January was made 23 feet underground in a desert surrounding the sacred city of Abydos, whose ruling dynasty from that era is lesser-known than others in Egypt due to economic and political strife at the time.

Philadelphia remains in a moderate drought despite an increase in rainfall in March, the first month with above average precipitation since August. Meteorologists say the the city needs more consistent rainfall to exit drought status because of a deficit that built up during the abnormally dry stretch that started in September.

Wild turkey on solo 'adventure' captures curiosity of Fishtown residents

A young male wild turkey has been gobbling at dawn and roosting in Fishtown's historic Palmer Cemetery, becoming a local celebrity nicknamed Cluck Norris. Residents have shared photos and videos on social media. Some say they can hear the bird gobbling in the morning around sunrise.

Fake nurse sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison for sexual assaults at Montgomery County urgent care clinics

Ramon Garcia, 34, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison Monday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting and spying on women at Carbon Health Urgent Care clinics in Jenkintown and Dresher. More than a dozen women told police that Garcia posed as a nurse to provide care he wasn't authorized to administer.

Even though Gary Busey pleaded not guilty in N.J. groping case, he hopes to enter program to avoid trial

Gary Busey, who was charged three years ago with groping women at a film convention in Cherry Hill, has applied to enter New Jersey's Pretrial Intervention Program for first-time offenders. The program allows some defendants, including those facing low-level sexual offenses, to have their cases dismissed and later expunged if they successfully complete court-ordered requirements.

The Exton Square Mall in Chester County has been sold to Abrams Realty, which plans to demolish the mall and build hundreds of homes, new retail stores and other amenities. The 52-year-old mall was sold by Philadelphia-based company PREIT, which has sought to sell land at several of its malls for residential development.
