A paramedic was stabbed in the chest and hand Tuesday morning by a patient in an ambulance in North Philadelphia, police said. The suspect fled from the ambulance and was taken into custody a short time later, police said. The paramedic was hospitalized in critical condition, but is expected to survive, authorities said.

A 61-year-old woman was found dead and wrapped in plastic inside a closet at a Northeast Philadelphia where she had been reported missing days earlier by a friend, police said. Lola Karabaeva was found during a search of the property on the 9000 block of Diplomat Place on Wednesday morning. Her husband, 65-year-old Vladimir Lushevskiy, has been charged with abuse of a corpse and could face additional charges, police said.

A family in Somerdale, New Jersey is hoping to reunited with two French bulldog puppies that went missing from their property on Oct. 7. The family believes the puppies escaped their property by going under their fence and then may have been picked up by someone else.

C.J. Rice was wrongfully convicted in a 2011 shooting and spent more than a decade in prison before he was exonerated and released from prison last year. CNN anchor Jake Tapper and his father played key roles in helping get Rice's case get exposure before a federal court overturned the conviction. Rice has now filed a lawsuit against the city and seven police officers claiming his case fits a pattern of misconduct in criminal investigations.

Drexel University administrator Kevin Montgomery was arrested outside a SEPTA station in Center City on Tuesday night and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Montgomery allegedly was involved in an argument with another person and then pushed a police officer who intervened. The university is investigating whether bias and discrimination were involved in the incident.

A detective with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office was fatally shot Tuesday night at her home in Bridgeton after several people broke in, authorities said. Sgt. Monica Mosley, 51, had been with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office since 2006. No arrests have been made.

Philadelphia's Museum of the American Revolution will soon display a sword belonging to a solider who fought in the final battle of the Revolutionary War. The sword belonged to Sgt. Jeremiah Keeler, who participated in the decisive Siege of Yorktown in the fall of 1781 that ended British war efforts in the American colonies. The sword was a gift from French military officer Marquis de Lafayette.

A rare comet will be visible on the western horizon in the Philadelphia region between Oct. 14-24, according to NASA. The comet, called Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, only passes by Earth once every 80,000 years. Although possibly visible to the naked eye, it's recommended to use either binoculars or a small telescope for the best view.

Gillian's Wonderland Pier, the amusement park that has operated for nearly a century on the Ocean City boardwalk, will close for good on Sunday. The pending shutdown of the Jersey Shore fixture has fueled months of speculation about whether a hotel could be built there and if local leaders would consider approving a liquor license in the dry town.

Three men broke into the SS United States from Pier 82 in South Philly earlier this month and stole about $1,700 worth of property from the historic ocean liner. The men were caught on video using a rope and pulley to access the ship, which will leave the city later this month to be sunken and turned into an artificial reef for scuba diving and fishing on the Florida panhandle in Okaloosa County.
