Fourth suspect arrested in Northeast Philly bus stop shooting

U.S. Marshals have arrested 17-year-old Asir Boon, the fourth suspect wanted for the March 6 shooting of eight teenagers at a SEPTA bus stop in Northeast Philadelphia. Boone was taken into custody in Alexandria, Virginia on Tuesday morning, authorities said. Three others — Jamaal Tucker, Ahnile Buggs and Jermahd Carter — had already been arrested and charged.

The Grape Room, longtime music venue and bar in Manayunk, abruptly closes

The Grape Room, a long-running bar and music venue in Manayunk, announced that it has closed. The history of the independent venue, which includes multiple owners, goes back to the late 1980s. A favorite spot for local bands and open mic nights, The Grape Room hosted shows from notable musicians including Amos Lee, Dispatch and The Lumineers over the years.

Child's remains found in duffel bag behind West Philly property, police say

The remains of a child were found inside a duffel bag on a property in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia on Monday morning, police said. The bag was discovered by a man who was doing work on the property, authorities said. The remains were severely decomposed. An investigation is underway.

CNN's Jake Tapper helps raise money for Philly man wrongfully convicted in 2011 shooting

C.J. Rice, a Philadelphia man who was wrongfully convicted of a 2011 shooting, will not be retried in the case that put him in prison for more than a decade. Rice was exonerated Monday. The case garnered national attention when CNN anchor Jake Tapper and his father, a doctor in Philadelphia, became vocal advocates on behalf of Rice's appeals. Dream.org now has a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Rice.

Bald eagle rescued outside Ocean City home and sent to Delaware wildlife rehab

A bald eagle was rescued outside a beachfront home in northern Ocean City on Monday afternoon. Video shows New Jersey Fish & Wildlife officers carefully capture the male eagle, who appeared to be disoriented. The bird was taken to the Tri-State Bird Rescue in Delaware to be treated for possible injuries.

Netflix House, a restaurant and event space, could open at King of Prussia Mall

Netflix is pursuing plans to open one of its first Netflix House venues at the King of Prussia Mall. The streaming company has submitted an application in Upper Merion Township to take over the space of the former Lord & Taylor store on the mall property. Netflix revealed last year that it hopes to develop a new concept that includes a restaurant, retail store and multipurpose space for fans to attend events centered on the platform's hit shows like "Stranger Things" and "Bridgerton."

Bar dispute led to fatal shootings at Fairmount Park last month, police say

Thurston Cooper and Krystina Chambers, who were shot to death near Mount Pleasant Mansion in Fairmount Park on Feb. 29, 2024, were involved in a bar dispute earlier that night with the two people charged in their deaths, Philadelphia police said Thursday. Lamar Young and Dale Johnson have been charged with murder, conspiracy and related offenses.

Jefferson Health completes construction of 19-story Honickman Center

Jefferson Health has finished construction of the Honickman Center, a 19-story outpatient tower at 11th and Chestnut streets in Center City. The new building contains more than 300 exam rooms and has multiple specialities and named care centers under one roof. It will open to patients April 15.
