Amazon signs lease for Southwest Philly warehouse, leaving SEPTA to mull other options for trolley project
Amazon has signed a lease for a 140,000 acre warehouse and fulfillment center in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia. The property at 6901 Elmwood Avenue had been targeted by SEPTA as a storage and maintenance location for modernized SEPTA trolley cars, but the online retailer outbid the transit authority. Daniel L. Smith, 36, of Ewing, has been charged with murder for allegedly fatally shooting of Shai Vanderpump, 23, in Trenton on July 30. Vanderpump was a transgender woman and LGBTQ advocate in New Jersey. Shawn Lichtfuss, 49, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of his wife, 38-year-old Stefanie Caraway, at their home in Camden County, prosecutors said. Pennsylvania girl suffers apparent shark bite at Maryland beach
A 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl suffered an apparent shark bite while visiting Ocean City, Maryland, with her family on Monday. The bite happened in shallow water off the 119th Street Beach, officials said. The girl required 42 stitches for 20 different cuts.
