Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway is poised for a major renovation that will be designed and developed through a Request for Proposals process. The one-mile stretch under consideration will run from 20th Street at the southeast to the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum to the northwest and bordered by Winter Street on the south and Pennsylvania Avenue to the north.

Newsweek ranked Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania among the top 2,000 hospitals in the world in its 2021 rankings. Several Pennsylvania hospitals also made Newsweek's list of the top hospitals in the United States. The rankings, developed in partnership with Statista Inc., are based on recommendations from various medical sources, results from patient surveys and medical key performance indicators.

Kyle Boell, 40, of Philadelphia, allegedly sent threatening and demeaning messages to a woman on Twitter in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election. Prosecutors said the Twitter account belonged to Boell and that he was a member of the extremist right-wing Proud Boys organization.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Matisse Thybulle has partnered with Red Bull on a mural in Fishtown and an initiative to raise money for the Philadephia Parks & Recreation Department. Every steal he records this season will generate a $250 donation to improve basketball courts in the city. Thybulle's new mural, spray-painted by Philadelphia artist Gloss Black, located at Garage on East Girard Avenue.

Philadelphia, Narberth, West Chester and Lower Merion are challenging a state measure in court to be able to enforce bans on single-use plastics that are currently prohibited by action last year from the Pennsylvania General Assembly. If Philadelphia's ban moves forward, the law would take effect on July 7, 2021.
