Wharton student's new website, FindAShot, hopes to ease manic search for COVID-19 vaccine appointments

FindAShot is a website that uses real time data from pharmacies around the country to help eligible people find appointments to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The site was built by David Newell, a Wharton School Executive MBA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, and contains live appointment listings from 15,000 pharmacy locations in the United States.

FOX 29's Alex Holley inadvertently lands her grandpa a stay at Waldorf Astoria hotel in Rome

FOX 29 anchor Alex Holley, co-host of "Good Day Philadelphia," was able to use the power of social media to get her grandfather a complimentary visit to the Rome Cavalieri hotel in Italy, part of the renowned Waldorf Astoria collection. Holley's grandfather was displaced by the winter storm emergency in Texas, prompting the hotel to step in and invite him for a future stay.

Cyclist fatally struck by SEPTA bus in Northeast Philly

A cyclist died Wednesday night after he was struck by a SEPTA bus in the 9900 block of Frankford Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, police said. The victim, reportedly about 40 years old, was not identified. The crash remains under investigation.

Glassboro-Camden light rail proposal takes next step in South Jersey

The Glassboro Camden Line is an 18-mile light-rail train project proposed to strengthen transportation links in southern New Jersey and extend the Philadelphia-Camden metropolitan area. The plan calls for adding 14 stations along an existing Conrail line to increase connectivity for residents, employees and students throughout the region.

South Jersey man mourned after death at Texas street racing event

Roger Glover, 35, of Maple Shade, New Jersey, was killed following a high speed collision at an underground street racing event in Houston, where he and his friend were vacationing to celebrate a birthday. Two teenagers also were killed when a vehicle was struck and slammed into a group of spectators. The driver of the speeding car faces manslaughter and aggravated assault charges.

A $4.68 million jackpot-winning Match 6 lottery ticket was sold at BJ's Wholesale Club in Oaks, Montgomery County on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021. It's the eighth largest jackpot in Pennsylvania Lottery history.

Pennsylvania lawmakers introduce bipartisan marijuana legalization bill

Pennsylvania Sens. Sharif Street and Dan Laughlin have introduced a bipartisan marijuana legalization bill that would authorize adult-use for people over 21 years old and decriminalize cannabis. The legislation comes after New Jersey became the 13th state in the U.S. to legalize recreational marijuana this week.

The intersection of I-76 and I-676 is among the top 100 truck bottlenecks in the United States, according to an annual analysis from the American Transportation Research Institute. The Philadelphia region had three other bottlenecks in the top 100.

Philly on track to ease more COVID-19 restrictions as cases fall

Philadelphia officials plan to loosen COVID-19 restrictions later this week amid a steady decline in new cases and the ongoing rollout of the city's vaccination program. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia began a vaccination effort to inoculate 35,000 education workers.
