Xfinity Live! renovations to include outdoor beer garden, food truck area and performance stage

The $15 million renovation of Xfinity Live! at the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia will include a new outdoor beer garden, a two-story pavilion with a VIP bar and plaza upgrades for fans. The venue will remain open throughout the renovations, which are expected to be finished by early 2026.

Man charged with robbing 94-year-old woman at Germantown pharmacy

Janhyi Boyd, 20, is charged with robbing a 94-year-old woman at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Philadelphia on Oct. 18. Boyd allegedly grabbed at the woman's purse as she sat waiting for a prescription to be filled. The woman was dragged from her chair and Boyd stole $42 from her, prosecutors said.

City Council questions how proposed 76ers arena will impact SEPTA and who will pay for service upgrades

City Council started holding hearings Tuesday morning on the Philadelphia 76ers' proposed new arena in Center City. The hearings, covering eight days over the next few weeks, will give council members a chance to ask questions and listen to testimony from the team, Mayor Cherelle Parker's administration and the public about the $1.3 billion project that would replace a portion of the Fashion District Philadelphia mall.

New Jersey is under a red flag warning, meaning weather conditions are primed for rapidly spreading wildfires. Firefighters are working to contain several wildfires in the state, including a 350-acre blaze on the border of Burlington and Camden counties. Record rainless stretches have led to severe drought conditions.

Chester County DA will not pursue criminal investigation into Ellen Greenberg's death

A criminal investigation into the 2011 stabbing death of Ellen Greenberg will not be opened by the Chester County District Attorney's office after detectives reviewed prior probes of the case. The death of Greenberg, a 27-year-old teacher in Philadelphia, was first ruled a homicide and then switched to a suicide.

The Giant Heirloom Market at the former Strawbridge & Clothier building in Center City will close on Dec. 28, the company said. Giant said the smaller format store, one of four in the city, had been underperforming and faced other problems three years since opening at 801 Market St.

Amazon Fresh opens in Willow Grove after long delay and lawsuits

Amazon Fresh is opened in Willow Grove on Thursday, becoming the tech giant's first store in Montgomery County. The location had been the subject of litigation because it was one of several stores in the region where Amazon had signed a lease but then delayed opening the planned supermarket. Amazon Fresh has other stores in the area in Bensalem, Broomall, Warrington and Langhorne.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small charged with telling daughter to lie about alleged abuse

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. is accused of asking his teenage daughter to lie to investigators about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of both of her parents at the family's home last winter. Atlantic County prosecutors said Small, 50, told his daughter to make false statements to authorities days before he and his wife, LaQuetta, were indicted. The couple have pleaded not guilty to the charges. Small now faces an additional charge of witness tampering.

Vice President Kamala Harris gave a concession speech Wednesday afternoon after losing the presidential race to Donald Trump in a landslide election for Republicans. Harris said she congratulated Trump and pledged to engage in a peaceful transition of power but would not give up fighting for the issues that shaped her campaign. She urged Democrats to remain determined and politically engaged.
