Philly D.A. to investigate fatal police shooting of Interboro High School student at I-95 car meet

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is investigating the Pennsylvania State Police shooting of 18-year-old Anthony Allegrini Jr. on Interstate 95 on Sunday morning. Allegrini, of Glen Mills, allegedly struck two troopers with his car after authorities had responded to reports of cars drag racing and doing burnouts in the Penn's Landing area. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner's office will lead an independent investigation into the shooting.

Green Eggs Café now open for brunch at the Chatterbox in Ocean City

Green Eggs Café is now open daily in Ocean City, New Jersey from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 901 Central Ave, the distinctive pink building that has long been the home of the Chatterbox restaurant. The owners of Green Eggs Café, the popular brunch spot with five locations in Philadelphia, purchased the property last year. The Green Eggs menu is known for its selection of skillets, Benedicts and decadent French toasts made with carrot cake, cookie dough, cinnamon bun and more. There's also a lunch menu with burgers, sandwiches and salads.

Roots Picnic headliner Lil Uzi Vert discusses 7-month rehab stint in newly published interview

Lil Uzi Vert revealed in an interview with German magazine 032c that they completed 7 months in rehab to overcome an addiction to Xanax. The Philadelphia-born rapper returns home on Saturday to perform at the annual Roots Picnic. Uzi, 27, said they were urged to get help by Roc Nation label heads Jay-Z and Desiree Perez. Uzi also talked about their decision to use "they/them" pronouns.

What are the health risks of wildfire smoke? Here's how to limit your exposure

Wildfire smoke can cause health risks in the short-term and long-term, including coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, headaches and stinging eyes. Repeated exposure to particle pollution from wildfires can increase the risk of developing lung cancer and brain tumors. Recent wildfires in Nova Scotia and New Jersey have prompted air quality alerts in areas far from the fires, since the smoke can travel long distances in short periods of time. Health officials recommend following a number of tips to limit exposure to wildfire smoke inhalation.

Wildcat's Revenge, a revamped Hersheypark roller coaster, hits 62 mph

Hersheypark's revamped Wildcat's Revenge roller coaster is now open for summer 2023 after the previous Wildcat roller coaster closed last year. The renovated roller coaster has a new steel track and reaches speeds up to 62 mph. The ride has a 140-foot hill that sends riders plunging at an 82-degree angle. It also has four inversions, including one that the central Pennsylvania amusement park calls the world's largest underflip.

Former Sikorsky helicopter plant in Coatesville acquired by Delco aircraft manufacturer Piasecki

Piasecki Aircraft Corp. has acquired the former Lockheed Martin Sikorsky helicopter plant in Coatesville, where it plans to hire 400 workers by 2028. The Sikorsky plant closed last year. Piasecki purchased it for $10.5 million and plans to transform the facility into a research and development center. Among the planned projects is the development of Piasecki's PA-890 helicopter, described as the world's first zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell rotorcraft.

Video shows brawl on SEPTA bus before shooting of two teens

Philadelphia police released video Wednesday showing a May 17 brawl on a SEPTA bus that led to a shooting that injured two teenagers. The shooting happened on a Route 33 bus around noon in the area of 20th and Diamond Streets, authorities said. Surveillance video showed a group of teenagers get on the bus and attack a passenger. At one point, a suspect struck a passenger multiple times with his gun, causing it to fire and strike the two victims, police said.

Woman fatally shot husband at Bristol Borough Wharf, police say

Sammar Khan, 40, of Levittown is charged with homicide in the fatal shooting of her husband, 38-year-old Faisal Iqbal, at the Bristol Borough Wharf on Tuesday morning, authorities said. Bucks County detectives say multiple witnesses saw the shooting unfold near the parking lot of the park along the Delaware River waterfront.

Ocean City steps up enforcement against 'drunken teens' after Memorial Day weekend incidents

In response to problems with underage drinking and other violations, Ocean City plans to close all of its beaches at 8 p.m. Carrying backpacks will no longer be permitted after 8 p.m. on the beach and boardwalk, and bathrooms on the boardwalk will close at 10 p.m. The curfew for juveniles will move from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m. Ocean City police responded to 999 incidents over Memorial Day weekend, prompting Mayor Jay Gillian to roll out the new policies.

An unhappy sex life may be a sign of future memory problems

Men who are dissatisfied with their sex lives may be more likely to suffer from memory loss and cognitive decline as they age. A new study out of Penn State University examined the links between sexual fulfillment, erectile dysfunction and cognitive performance. The three factors were correlated in hundreds of men over a 12-year period, leading researchers to believe ED may be a valuable tool to assess future risks to cognition.
